💡Think
Hey everyone,
It goes without saying that what’s happening in the Middle East right now is barbaric and beyond anything we could imagine happening in 2023, alas we’re here and it hurts to sit still.
If you’re not sure what you can do, I’ve collated some petitions and charities that you can donate to in order to support the innocent Israelis that suffered on October 7th, and the Palestinians under constant barrage ever since:

❶ The tech hype cycle is spinning ever faster
This is a bit more academic in tone than normal articles I share, but is a great read. It goes through the issues that we’ve been seeing accelerate over the past few years with hype in tech. The current hype obviously being AI, and businesses scrambling to take advantage of something we’ve barely allowed to breathe. What would a less rushed, longer-term approach to tech innovation look like, and why do we have to rush all the damn time?
❷ Google’s search box changed the meaning of information
This is part look back into where the search box came from, and part criticism on how far away the current Google is from its origin. Their launch plan was to get people away from Google as fast as possible, and onto your link. It’s no surprise to know that today they want to lock us into their products for as long as possible.
❸ Group chat culture is out of control
I’m sure this is something you can relate to. How many group chats (WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, iMessage…) are you in? Probably quite a few. And if you take a break from your phone, you’ll end up with many many notifications to catch up on, and we can never clear them. Sound familiar? P.s. I’ve linked to a version of this article without a paywall because I’m cheap.

Is there a sane way to use the internet?
I promise you that you’ll enjoy this. It’s an interview with Ezra Klein (founder of Vox), who talks very candidly about the state of the internet and how they are trying to not get sucked into “a vortex of opinion”. Head out for a walk, put your headphones on, and enjoy.
Have a great week,
