💡Think
Hey folks,
I've been thinking a lot about what it takes to "build community" this week, and landed on something that feels about right as a golden rule.
Essentially, community is all about the people inside of it, not you.
Sounds obvious and simple, but if you go out into the world of social media right now and look at how people and brands speak, I bet they will be talking about themselves.
So flipping the script and starting to think about your users / customers / peers first, you will not only seem more interesting, but relevant and follow-able (technical term).
Have a great week 🧨

❶ Life after lifestyle
This article with throw you into chin-scratch-ponder mode whilst also forcing you to blush at how much it describes your life. It runs us through what "culture" has meant over the past decade, in the way that our lives are a pastiche of Instagram trends and popular trends. It then slaps us with the reality of the unique but definitely not direct-to-consumer brands that have dominated our lives for the past few lives. Warby Parker, anyone? It's a long article, so buckle up.
❷ AI – the birth of a new artistic medium
Is AI generated art...art? It's a question we'll probably have to ask ourselves in the next few years as the mass-market appeal of AI bleeds its way into creativity. The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston didn't start listing photography in their exhibitions until 1924; how long will it be until we start attending AI ones?
❸ The next century of computing
This is more of a listicle in nature, but lays out 80 predictions for computing in the future. There are a lot of engineering-heavy concepts explained, but it's useful to see their discussion on the rise of silicon in computing and how things like Moore's Law are slowing right down in front of our eyes.

Time: Do the past, present, and future exist all at once?
It's so complex, that scientists struggle to define whether it's an illusion or not. Now if that isn't a 🤯 moment, I'm not sure what is. This is a video, but there's no reason why you can't just listen to the audio as it's a series of sound bites from people speaking to camera.
