Hey everyone!
I took last week off to celebrate my birthday in the warm Moroccan winter sun, hope I didnāt miss too much āļø
I wanted to share the concept of āHanlonās Razorā with you today.
It states that we should never associate someoneās ill-behaviour with harm when thereās a high chance it is simplyā¦them being a bit stupid. People make mistakes all the time, and positive intent is our best friend a lot of the time.
Isnāt that great? So simple, yet effective in how we look at situations with potential conflict.
Have a great week š

ā¶ Google ā The maze is in the mouse
Cryptic but clever title. This article is written by someone whose business was acquired by Google and argues that Google is strangled by process, planning, and ānot rocking the boatā. It might sound familiar to anyone working in tech, but at Googleās scale, that is a very big boat moving at a very slow pace. Definitely have a read of this.
ā· Techās toxic productivity obsession
The recent layoffs arenāt news to us, but maybe the way they happened is? At Meta, managers were apparently told to pick people based on gut instinct those that were performing at low productivity. This output, not outcomes mindset is a hangover from a century ago but weāre still judging our lives by it. Why?
āø Paying ourselves to decarbonise
A rare share here for climate content, but itās a great read and I think youāll enjoy it. Itās a meaty discussion on the very real potential collapse of a lot of nations should we suddenly stop our fossil fuel usage. What happens to all of that asset-wealth? Itās also the first time Iāve heard of ācarbon coinsā.

Bonus round
Risk and regret. This short article proposes a nice way of looking at the long term effect of what we do, rather than the possible short term gains

The new gurus
Iāve really enjoyed this series. Itās follows the stories of people who have found fame online as self-defined āgurusā. Think Russell Brand, Jordan Peterson, Joe Rogan etc, but on a slightly less famous scale. All those wellness Instagram famous people? Gurus. Yogi YouTube channels? Also. Designers who tweet all the time? š
Iām describing this poorly, you should definitely have a listen.
