Curiosity, Software bundling, Design dogmatism
💡Think
I hope that, regardless of the holiday traditions you do or don’t subscribe to, you’ve managed to take a few days off this week to reset. This time of year is great for thinking about what’s currently not working for us and ways in which we can make constructive changes. I appreciate that the world is in a weird spot, particularly regarding the job market, but the little control we do have over what’s possible should hopefully inspire positive change.
If you’d like to start producing – articles, newsletters, podcasts – feel free to reply and we can chat about how to get started.
Have a great New Year.

❶ Curiosity is the key to a happy life
Anyone that has worked with me knows that I’m a biiiiig fan of asking questions. I find it invaluable to growth as a team. The more we understand as a unit, the faster we can move forward together. This article jumps into the idea of “joyous exploration” as a way to find a bit more happiness. Interesting stuff.

❷ Platforms and software bundling, a debate on what’s essential
I’m presuming most of you are heavy Google, Microsoft or Apple users, which means that a significant amount of your time is spent using products from just a few companies – Google Mail, Docs, Sheets, etc, or Microsoft’s equivalent. Do you think this is fair, in a competitive sense? Is the ease of use and synchronisity between software good or bad for the common market?

❸ Undoing the toxic dogmatism of digital design
Okay, this is an essential read. It’s a long read, but packs a lot of truth as it puts a mirror up to the design industry and its inability to keep itself accountable. We have strayed into a dangerous zone whereby we celebrate individuals, not teams, and blindly stick to a lot of design methods which fail us. Just trust me on this one.
