š”Think
Hello from Turkey š¹š·!
Iāve been here for a few weeks, eating my own body weight in food, swimming, and trying really hard not to engage in the latest design Twitter discourse.
There is one thing that has been on my mind recently, that Iād encourage you to consider at length:
Good teams are those made up of people you admire*.
Is this something that you feel in your current team? If not, what can you do to make that happen?
Have a great week,
Luis

ā¶ Create slowly
I love this. Itās an argument against the rapid fire, constantly sprinting appetite that we have slipped into when it comes to work (and specifically, software design). Perhaps we donāt need to jump on the latest trends, software feature releases, or ābestā ways of working, instead focussing on what weāre here to do ā solve problems.
ā· Subjectivity, gatekeeping, and taste
This is an essay arguing for the importance of taste. As something that is pretty hard to define, it play such an important role in everything we do as creators. āI donāt like itā is our enemy, but how can we provide something they do like without building a foundational knowledge, or repeatable set of patterns, of what good even means?
āø In This Essay I Will: On Distraction
This is a little different to normal types of articles I share, but I thought it appropriate. Itās an essay on distraction, because thatās the world we live in now. We are never truly present are we? How many distractions have you had since the start of this newsletter? It uses a rich literary metaphor throughout the article and raises concerns over the ādangers of overestimating oneās own intelligenceā. Nice!

Bonus round
Definitely a random one, but Iāll be in Poland next weekend/week for WaysConf. If youāre around, say hey š

What would a humane web look like?
This is a marketing podcast, thereās no getting around that (the intro is the cheesiest thing Iāve ever heard. You can skip to around 8 minutes š), but thereās a healthy discussion in it about what the web could/should look like if we approached it in a more sustainable de-centralised way.
