đĄThink
For those of you who havenât been subjected to my social media spamming this week, it was our annual company conference and I was lucky enough to host a virtual stage for two days.
The central theme from both days (at least for me) was how important communication and collaboration are for teams to succeed.
This isnât rocket science (although we did have someone from NASA speaking), but itâs incredibly valuable to consistently hear this from people representing businesses of all scales that when they dropped their ego and fostered cross-discipline communication, they all improved.
Fundamentally, if we open up our process to allow others to contribute, we all build stronger teams and ship better products.

ⶠIs content moderation a dead end?
Think about the past decade in tech and the abuses of power that have happened on certain platforms â Facebook, mainly. Is this an inevitability of a growing platform, or a fundamental problem with trying to moderate people? Back to our conference this week, we had to turn off the event chat because it was being abused by a loud minority. Saying no to everyone feels unfair, but we are in a world where a level playing field always ends poorly.

â· The case for universal creative income
Weâve all head of the âthe starving artistâ, but the reality is that these days an artist has the financial backing of a wealthy family. Art is privilege. How can we help those that donât have such an upbringing be creative and prosper? Well, this long read discusses how we can argue for a universal income for creativity. I wouldnât say no.

âž Will worrying make youâŠbetter?
Stay with me on this one. This article made me look at worry from a different perspective â itâs not that we do it to drive us into an anxious mess, but for protection. By worrying about could go wrong, we can actually end up doing more things right. Makes sense, right? Next time youâre faced with a presentation, or something thatâs causing you to be anxious, you can use this adrenaline as reassurance that youâre moving in the right direction. This is a great read.

Where is Jack Ma?
For those that donât know, Jack Ma is the CEO of two humongous Chinese companies â Alibaba, and Ant Financial. Earlier this year, he disappeared. It turns out that speaking out of turn in China has some pretty dire circumstances, and this podcast digs into a few other cases of famous people dropping off the planet in China. Fascinating and scary in the same breath.
